7 September 2020 Meet Sales Manager Kye Ayobiojo We sat down with new sales manager Kye to chat about major shifts during Covid, his background and joining the hubbado family. Silke Stienen-Durand Interview Payments Recruitment Industry Covid19 FinTech Hiring 1. Tell us a bit about your backgroundI started in sales in 2004 working in print services sales for about 3 years, until print started taking a massive dip, so in 2007 I moved into recruitment for telecommunications, software, commercial and professional services, where I remained for the next 5 years. Most recently I’ve been working in payments technology with all the major payment processors and card schemes clients have included First Data, Mastercard, WEX Europe, Prepay Technologies and Visa. The best part of my job is when I get to help companies with a great vision scale up. In a recent project I helped scale a company from 4 to 62 people, and I had the opportunity to personally bring in 50 of those people.2. What attracted you to join hubbado? In the last 18 months I’ve been running my own business, working with a handful of clients and ready to grow, but I realised that I was just spread too thin without a team behind me to manage the day to day. The personalities and vision attracted me to hubbado, plus there’s a huge opportunity to scale up the business. Here I can just concentrate on building relationships and developing clients, and I know I have the back up of subject matter experts on the team. It was a no brainer.3. Have you seen any major shifts in the industry during the Covid lockdown? It’s been a massive transition, and a lot of industries like retail and hospitality have taken a huge hit. A major client of mine is payments provider to the travel industry, and when all of their clients are grounded or closed they also don’t make money so the knock on effect is huge. The work from home lifestyle is better suited to some industries than others too, in a traditional recruitment operation you need to be at your desk 8:30 to 6:30 every day, so safely moving back to the office environment will be really critical for some businesses at this time.4. What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned on the job?One of my old sales directors said to me, ‘you’ve got two ears and one mouth for a reason’. It’s a comment I’ve really taken on board, because as a sales manager it’s our job to help clients by listening to their pain points, rather than walking in thinking you have the perfect solution for them without even knowing what their problems are.5. What will your responsibilities be at Hubbado?I’ll be the new hubbado sales manager. I’ve already started transitioning my payments clients, and there are some new projects on the horizon. I’m also going to be creating and bringing new logos to the business from the world of payments, fintech and also core industries for hubbado like networking, infrastructure, and broadcasting, where the team have already had some brilliant projects.6. Tell us 3 fun facts about yourself to introduce yourself to the hubbado communityI used to play tennis to quite a high standard and was on the path to getting a Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) rating but unfortunately it didn’t happen, so no Wimbledon for me. I also played football for a number of years, and I have three lovely children. If you'd like to contact Kye about any payments, fintech, networking, infrastructure or broadcasting projects with the expertly vetted hubbado community and from just 10% to hire, you can do so at kye@hubbado.com
